There are also many sites to see during the drive. Some of these sites are the Cape Brett lighthouse, which was built in 1868, and it is one of the oldest lighthouses in New Zealand. Another site that can be seen on Zealand road is the Burnt Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse was built to replace Cape Brett lighthouse because it was too close to shore and it had been destroyed by a gale in 1878.
